Mulebuy tracking: what each status means and how to follow a parcel outside Mulebuy

Checked and edited .

Short version: Mulebuy shows its own statuses until a parcel is handed to a carrier; after that the carrier's tracking number works on its own, whatever happens to Mulebuy. Weeks at 'seller shipped' or 'being packaged' means the parcel never left. For your next order, pick from 10,000+ real-photo finds and an agent that shows the carrier number early.

Two kinds of tracking

A Mulebuy order is tracked in two separate places, and confusion between them causes most worry. Inside Mulebuy, each item and parcel has an internal status that only Mulebuy updates. Once the parcel is handed to a logistics company, it gets a carrier tracking number that the carrier updates. The first depends entirely on Mulebuy; the second does not.

Before you have a carrier number, only Mulebuy can move your parcel.

Tracking a parcel outside Mulebuy

Once a parcel has a carrier number, copy it into the carrier's own site or a universal tracker that recognises many carriers. International legs often go quiet for several days: the parcel leaves China, flies or travels in a container, then appears again when your country's carrier scans it. Near delivery, the number often changes to the local carrier's format, such as Poste Italiane or Royal Mail. If the original number stops updating, try it on the local carrier's site.

This outside tracking keeps working whatever happens to Mulebuy. Parcels that were with a carrier before the August problems kept moving normally.

A carrier number frees your parcel from Mulebuy's status page.

When the status stays inside Mulebuy

Since mid-August 2026, reviewers describe orders stuck at "seller shipped" for a month and parcels at "being packaged" for weeks, with tickets unanswered. Statuses that stay inside Mulebuy for that long are not a tracking problem. No outside tracker can follow them, because the parcel has not been handed to anyone. The useful steps are on the status page: screenshots, a written ticket and, if you paid by card or PayPal, a check of the dispute deadline.

Weeks at an internal status means the agent has not shipped, not that tracking is broken.

Parcel shows delivered but never arrived

  1. Check around the address. Neighbours, the building's mail room, a locker or a pickup point listed on the tracking.
  2. Read the final scan. Some carriers record a photo or a signature name.
  3. Contact the local carrier. Use the local tracking number on the carrier's own website.
  4. Tell the agent in writing. Many lines include basic loss cover; claims need the tracking and a deadline.

Italian buyers often find parcels held for a customs payment rather than lost. If the tracking mentions customs or "in giacenza", see the guida alla dogana. For expected timings by country, see Mulebuy shipping time.

"Delivered" with no parcel is a carrier claim; start with the local carrier.

Tracking on your next agent

Agents differ in how clearly they show these stages. Before moving, open one test order and see whether the agent shows the warehouse arrival date, the QC photos, the packing status and the carrier number in one place. Agents that hide the carrier number until delivery make problems harder to chase. The alternatives guide lists what to check, and the link converter moves your saved items.

Choose an agent that shows the carrier number as soon as the parcel leaves.

Tracking numbers that change on the way

Many agent lines hand the parcel from one company to another: a Chinese consolidator, an airline or shipping partner, and a local carrier. The tracking number can change at each handover, and some trackers stop at the first company. If tracking freezes after the parcel leaves China, look for a second number in the tracking history, often labelled as a reference or a last-mile number, and try it on your country's carrier site. For Italy that is often Poste Italiane, SDA, BRT or GLS; for the UK, Royal Mail, Evri or DPD.

A freeze of a week or more between export and arrival is common on economy lines. It is the absence of any carrier scan at all, with the parcel still at an internal agent status, that signals a real problem.

If tracking stops after export, look for the last-mile number before worrying.

Tracking on Italian deliveries

Italian parcels on postal lines often show a status such as "in giacenza" (held) or a request to pay customs charges before delivery. That is not a lost parcel; it is waiting for you. Pay through Poste Italiane's own app or site and the parcel continues. Ignore text messages with payment links, which are a common scam. More on this in the guida alla dogana.

"In giacenza" means waiting for you, usually for a customs payment.

For UK parcels, a card through the door from Royal Mail asking for a "fee to pay" usually means VAT or duty on a parcel over £135; again, pay only on the official site.

Keep the carrier number and the final tracking page as screenshots too; some carriers delete tracking history after a few weeks.
